Before co-founding Designer for a Day in 2008, Joan worked as an interiors project designer for Bank of Hawaii, Leo A Daly, Kitchen Concepts Plus, and Castle Resorts and Hotels. She continues to be a partner with her architect husband, John, in Robinson-Whitaker Design.

About Joan

Joan Robinson-Whitaker, ASID is an award-winning interior designer with over 39 years experience in both residential and commercial design.

A Kalani High School graduate, Joan received her Interior Design degree from the University of California, which included two years of study at the well-respected American College of Lucerne, Switzerland. After completing her education and the proscribed years of experience in the field, she passed the rigorous national NCIDQ exam, qualifying her to become a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).

Joan has always been active in the local community. A consummate professional, her work has received numerous awards and has been published in Honolulu Magazine, Hawaii Home and Remodeling, and Island Home.
